My real first post
January 11th, 2007 by Jesse Hsia
Hello, my name is Jesse, and I will also be a regular blogger on Bren:Alumni.
A short intro: I graduated ICS in 2003 and have been working as a full time developer ever since. I currently work as a .NET consultant for Avanade in SoCal. Outside the workplace, my biggest hobby is playing basketball, and when time permits I assist in coaching the Freshmen Boys Basketball Team at University High School (down the street from UCI).
Be on the look out for my blog posts around various consulting project experiences, what consulting lifestyle is like, work/life balance dilemma, and mentoring/coaching experience.
And finally, I want to stress the importance of learning through each other’s experience. Let me try to put it in perspective.
- For undergrads, even though UCI does a great job preparing its students for the real world, it is still impossible to teach everything students need to know for their first jobs.
- For alumnis, it is tough to adjust to new situations that rises from working a new job/role or working in a new company/industry.
The key to learning is hearing from others that have already gone down the path, in hopes to better prepare yourself.
So make sure you tune in, because we’ve got lots of good stuff in the oven! Cheers!
