A new school year is right around the corner, classes start on Thursday, September 25th but an explosion of campus welcome activities for all new students begins on Monday, September 22nd.

The UCI Welcome Week web site lists all campus wide events, while the list below highlights Bren School related events.

Stop by and mingle with future alumni!

» MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22

9 a.m.
New Student Convocation
Bren Events Center

  • The official welcome for all new UCI students, and kicks off several days of exciting campus energy.

10:30 to noon
Bren ICS Dean’s Welcome
Donald Bren Hall 1100

  • Dean Debra Richardson, Associate Dean Amelia Regan and student leaders will share important information about the opportunities awaiting you and being ready for your Bren School courses.
  • A FREE BBQ Lunch and Club Fair in Aldrich Park will follow the Dean’s Welcome.

 

» TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23

3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
ICS = Ice Cream Social for New Bren ICS Students
Quad area between ICS and Engineering Tower

  • Associate Dean Amelia Regan, Bren School faculty, Bren ICS Student Ambassadors, and ICS Student Affairs staff will be on hand to meet you, find out more about your interests, tell you about upcoming events and involvement opportunities, and share insights about how to make the most of your Bren School experience.

 

» WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24

8:30 a.m. to noon
Orientation for New Informatics Students (REQUIRED)

  • The Informatics Orientation is required of all new Informatics majors and open to all students enrolled in Informatics 41.
  • Hosted by Bren School’s Informatics Department, please RSVP to Sabina Chung ( sabinac@uci.edu, (949) 824-0247 ).

12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Orientation for Students Taking ICS 21-22-23
Donald Bren Hall 6011

  • Course instructors will make a short presentation, followed by a discussion of what to expect and how to thrive in this year-long core sequence, and generally in our majors.
  • Hosted by the Computer Science Department, no RSVP is necessary.

2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Survival Strategies for Bren School Students

  • Learn what it takes to survive and succeed as a Bren ICS major (BIM, CS, CSE, Informatics, ICS).
  • Key Bren School faculty, advising staff, student leaders, and department representatives will offer strategies and suggestions for succeeding in your courses, getting involved, making connections, and knowing about important campus resources.
  • Hosted by the Bren School counselors and peer advisers, no RSVP is necessary. Light refreshments!
